He is in charge of the New York Solar Energy Application Research Institution; he is the president of the British Consol International Holding Company; and he is also the principal shareholder of the CONSOL Changzhou Energy Co.Ltd.

As a specialist in glass, ceramics and new energy resources, Yu Kun Pei graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in his early years and has over 45 years of experiences in glass and ceramics and countless inventions. For the past 17 years he has concentrated his efforts in the feasibility study to replace fossil fuels with solar energy. His interest in the solar energy began in 1973 during the Oil Crisis. Like most people, Y.K. was extremely concerned about our reliance on fossil fuels. These fuels are non-renewable and very much dependent upon oil-producing nations.

While working as Technical Director for new product development at Owens-IIIinois Inc.in Toledo Ohio,Y.K.was asked to experiment in solar energy. His instructions were brief and to the point."Show us you can make something that can collect solar energy better than anything else."To Y.K.'s mind, one simply does not reach for the sky without his feet planted firmly on the earth.

"If we cannot make our collector affordable and safe, then it doesn't really matter how good it is ."

That kind of thinking combined with his vast expertise in glass technology led to the successful development and practical application of the SUNPAK evacuated tube solar collectors throughout the United States. Currently, Yu Kun Pei holds the post of senior technical adviser of National Architectural Material Bureau and the Ministry of Electronic Industry of PRC.

Now Yu Kun Bei is acting as the senior technical adviser for the electronic industry department of China Building Materials Bureau. He is still making contribution to the glass ceramics, energy saving, and environmental protection.
